On Camera Acting
The foundation of acting is the same, it’s the tools you use in front of a camera that are different. Learn the Basics of On Camera Acting, Terminology, Audition Process, Cold Reading Techniques, On Set Protocols and more. All of these will enhance your professionalism in the audition room and on set, letting production know they can count on you. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or an experienced stage actor; acting for the camera can be a wonderful discipline to explore. Knowing how to develop the inner emotional life of a character, how to react-not perform, how to feel relaxed, confident and focused when the director says "Action" are the keys to a creative and natural OnCamera performance. That's what this film acting class is about.

BACKGROUND
Sherilyn Lawson is a professional SAG-AFTRA actor who has over 30 years experience on both sides of production. She costars and helped produce Not Dead Yet that screened at Le Du Marche, Cannes France 2010 and won best feature film in both RIFF & BWFF in 2009. She has many TV appearances-most recently in the series Grimm & American Vandal. She had a recurring role on the CBS crime series Under Suspicion with Seymour Cassell, Ann Rule’s Dead by Sunset with Annette O’Toole and Lifetime’s Fifteen and Pregnant with Kirsten Dunst. Films include Extraordinary Measures with Brendan Frazer and Kerri Russell, Feast of Love with Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear, What the @#$%^ Do We Know with Marlee Matlin and Gus Van Sant’s feature Elephant. She has extensive work on local & national commercials as a Make Up/ Wardrobe Stylist. She has a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon and studied with the British Theatre Association in London. She has studied Sanford Meisner’s technique, culminating with an intensive with Mr Meisner in Los Angeles. After working for years in the Pacific Northwest Film industry, Sherilyn has relocated to Southwest Virginia.
